Applications for a Reception Place
The Laurus Trust is the Admissions Authority for Norris Bank Primary School. The co-ordination and administration of admissions is undertaken by the Local Authority, Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council.
Applications for the academic year 2026-27 open on 15th August 2025. Offers will be made by the Local Authority on 16th April 2026. Norris Bank Primary School has a catchment area, more information can be found on Stockport Council’s website: Find your catchment area.

We strongly advise that all parents and carers take note of the closing date as late applications are processed after all on-time applications and may be disadvantaged.
In Year Applications
Applications for school places in Years 1-6 are known as ‘In Year Applications’ and should be made using the Stockport Council website: Changing schools during the school year.
The in year admissions process is coordinated by the Local Authority on behalf of the school.

How do I apply?
Applications are made to the Local Authority in which you reside.
The application process opens in August and the deadline to apply is in January for starting school in the following September. For Stockport residents please follow this link: Primary School Admissions.
How does the admissions criteria work?
The school has 60 Reception places. If more than 60 applications are received, priority will be given to children in accordance with the oversubscription criteria which can be found in the Admissions Policy document below.
How will I be told if my application is successful?
You will be informed by email on National Offer Day, which is 16th April 2026.
What happens if my application is unsuccessful?
All parents/carers have a statutory right of appeal to an Independent Appeal Panel. Further information about the appeals process can be found in the Admissions Policy below.
Do you have a waiting list?
Yes, following an unsuccessful application, parents/carers can ask for their child’s name to be placed on the waiting list.
Vacant places will be allocated to children on the waiting list in accordance with the oversubscription criteria, which can be found in the Admissions Policy below.
